Unpredictability of the Ocean

While deciding on a topic for my final presentation I wanted to incorporate the ocean and the important role it plays in multiple books. The ocean represents life and the hardships that come with it. It can be calm at some points, in a matter of moments everything can change, it is unpredictable. Ishmael is taken on a journey, where he must accept any set backs that are thrown at him. He has to deal with Ahab’s overconfident, cocky, aggressive behavior while aboard. The ship suffers many set back attempting to capture Moby Dick. The ocean provides a limitation between boaters and whales, they can swim so low below the surface making it harder to be captured. In comparison to the ocean the whale is unpredictable, using the oceans surface to mirage its next move so no on knows where it is or where it goes.

Similarly in The Veins of the Ocean, the main characters find comfort being by the ocean but also put their full fate in it. Reina moves closer to the sea in hopes of a new start, she relies on her connection with the ocean to fix her problems. Nesto relies on the ocean to get supplies back to his family. The ocean plays an important role through out this story because just as fast as a storm can erupt at sea, your brother could be arrested for murder. There is no telling what curveball life is going to throw at you.
